Week 8

 

the fishing was very good the first 4 days, after that the river got dirty, and the fishing slower, 82 fish were landed, 25 fish over 15 pounds, 4 over 20, Average weight 10.5 pounds.

Some pools of upper part are working very good.

First 4 days nymph were the best, using floating and sinking lines. Last 2 days big intruder, tubes and leeches were working.

Top rod of the week was Graham cherry with 17 fish on the net, the biggest 16 pounds.

Mark brodersen landed the biggest fish with 23 pounds

 

Water Conditions

Water color and visibility: Very clear water, got dirty on Thursday.

Water temperature: 6c to 10c .

Water level: river rise, has good flow.

 

Weather Conditions

Wind speed ranges through the week:the wind blows northwest as usual, it wasn’t strong, one day blow northest.

Air temperature ranges through the week: 0c to 14c. ,

Wheather observations (sun, rain, fog, etc.): first frosts.

Fishing Conditions

Flies that are working the best: Nymphs: emb, wonder bug, ruber legs nymphs. Different sizes of sunray shadows. Big flies for the last hour: big tube flies, intruder, leeches.

Fly lines (tips, heads, lengths, densities, etc) that are producing the best: Skagit heads with different lengths of T-17,14, 11, scandi with polyleaders .

2 tubes in tandem work good with dirty water.

Length and strength of tippet and leaders: 9 to 14 feet. 15 to 20 pounds.

Sinking and floating lines with nymph were the best, very small sizes, some sizes 12 or 14, swinging the flies.

Some deep and small holes we use floating lines with nymph fishing upstream.

 

Most of the fish were in the middle part, upper part is getting good, but not many fresh fish.

Many fresh fish in the lower and middle part.
